Of all the books in the initial Dragonlance series, the second one is probably the best. Although there is a leap in time as the original characters have apparently separated and started to seek help in other communities, that was purposeful as in coincided with the release of Modules (Campaign Manuals) that allowed people to run a campaign almost concurrently with the release of the novels. They basically used the same characters as those in the books, but may have chose different courses of action, and each module explained what occurred with the separate outcomes. It was an interesting concept for it's time, and probably resulted in TSR being swamped by people who wanted them to know what occurred in their campaigns so it would be included in some way in the next book. This novel actually makes a few of the previous one dimensional characters into developed characters, and some characters are almost completely ignored. It is recommended for someone with an interest in the genre or the game.

This book made me nervous, in a good way!

This is the second installment in the Dragonlance series. After reading the first book, all I can say is I was hooked. I blame my friends for not introducing me to this book. I feel proud to say that I'm gradually coming out from under the rock that I have lived under.

Dragons of Winter Night stressed me out. I hated to see the companions seperate and struggle to fight the evil that is spreading. However, the seperation brings so much to light in who these companions really are or who they grow into. I also really developed a deep hate for Derek. I was happy to see one person resurface when he did. All I can say is, I was as excited as Tass was.

Knowing that there is another book in this series, I'm so anxious to start, "Dragons of Spring Dawning." I only expect for each character to grow even more. I also can expect that there will be a nerve racking battle that will take place. It sounds odd, but I'm so happy that I discovered this series. AMAZING! This will be one of the few that I will eventually re-read.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

The Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy of novels is a trip down memory lane for me. They were my introduction to the fantasy genre when I was 13 years old, so revisiting them after 25 years was an exercise in nostalgia - and an enjoyable one at that.

The novel is certainly not terribly original, nor is it Tolkieneque high heraldic prose. But it doesn't really claim to be either. I was originally written as a series of novels to help sell tabletop roleplaying game supplements and when taken as such, it is quite enjoyable. The characters are archetypical to the point of being stock - but if you buy into it as a pulp fantasy with the same depth as one would find in the old Conan stories, it's a fun ride.

That's the best way to describe these books - a fun ride. Nothing truly revolutionary. Nothing groundbreaking. Just good, innocent fun.

I can't believe I am the first to review this book as the author has so many fans. Slutty alcohol and drug addict , dim witted Cherry Pye has a whole team trying to keep her very untalented rock stardom afloat. She's a money maker but on a self destruct course which the teams tries to control with all types of schemes for their own income. The author writes with his usual humor and as a resident of Miami for 60 years it was entertaining to picture the places and things as I read. Insights into the paparazzi scence and show business manufacture of stars insightful. The characters are absolutely absurd as are their actions but anyone that knows the Miami environment knows that anything is possible as are the wide variety of wacky people that live in Miami Dade County are capable of the most bizarre and unbelievable things.

My husband is a type 1 and I got this book when were dating so I could better understand what he was going through. This book has so much information it was overwhelming! But after the first couple chapters, I was telling my husband things about it that he didn't even understand. Instead of reading the whole book, I went through the table of contents and looked at what specifically I wanted to know about.

Type 1 for dummies

This is a good book for reviewing and it has updated information that inspired me to try harder and count carbs. My mother found this book and loved it she said she had no idea that there was so much involved in being a type 1 diabetic. I became a diabetic before I was 21. It was not diagnosed until a month after I turned 21. I am 55 now and all I can say is I have to keep reading and reading and I still won't know everything I need to know. This book is easy to read and it is not only good for the diabetic himself but for the family to read and then maybe they will not be so judgmental...

Nothing simple about it

After reading this book I concluded that you better not be a dummy if you have diabetes. It's one complicated disease. This book went a long way toward helping me understand diabetes. It convinced me that an iron will, regular habits,and a penchant for routine and and detail, are the keys to living with diabetes successfully. Should you be deficient in any of the qualities listed above, good luck. You shall need it.

About the Author
CINDY AMRHEIN is the county historian for Wyoming County, New York.After working for ten years as a freelance abstractor for a title search company, Cindy changed her focus to title searching only historic properties and Native American land. From 2004 to 2006 Cindy was a weekly columnist for a Native American newspaper in northern New York State, The Akwesasne Phoenix Sundays (now out of print) under the pen name of History Sleuth, the handle she still uses online.Her latest book, A History of Native American Land Rights in Upstate New York is on its way to becoming a reference for land claims. It is now carried by 30 college/university libraries in 19 states including Columbia University, Princeton, Harvard, Oklahoma State, Texas A &M, and Yale University Law School Library. When shes not doing land research or writing historical true crime, you can find her plotting out murder mysteries.

ELLEN LEA BACHORSKI was the president of the Alabama Historical Society, and the museum director for the Town of Alabama Museum during the writing of this book. She lived in Alabama for over 15 years and operating a store called The Trading Post in the Hamlet of Basom where the authors met. Ellen currently volunteers for several not-for-profit organizations within her community including the Batavia International Peace Garden.

Ok but not gripping

A Clear, Well-researched View into the Soul of a Killer

It took me awhile to finish this book since I had brain surgery, lost it and had to get a fresh copy to finish months later.

BREAD AND BUTTER is the historical account of a murder case in which Polly Frisch killed her husband and children. It reads like INTENSE courtroom testimony. I enjoy True Crime and found all the details and the web of intrigue to be quite gripping. Eyewitness accounts and documented evidence build a very clear narrative.

This crime spree that took place in the 1800s reminds me that the darker side of humanity has its own timeless themes: sex, deception, jealousy and selfishness. There's even chemistry clashing with folk remedies! These crimes could have--and truly do--take place all around us every day. With such a well-researched account, Ms Amrhein offers up nothing less than a crystal clear vision into the soul of a killer.

A fascinating historical investigation that keeps twisting and twisting, with an unexpected and beautiful ending. The book can be divided in two parts: the first part is the story of Polly Frisch, while the second part covers her trials. The authors did an amazing job in researching documents, paper clips, photographs, and trial transcripts. They carried out a true investigation, except the clues were in libraries and archives -- truly fascinating!

Muy entretenida!

Esta es una novela muy fresca y entretenida con la que podr�s divertirte durante varias horas. Yo, particularmente, me la le� en poco m�s de un d�a aunque odio leer en el PC, y es que la historia te engancha desde el principio con situaciones hilarantes que te hacen despanzar de la risa (aunque m�s adelante ya no ries tanto porque predomina el drama).

Se trata de la historia de Dylan Carter, una chica de 17 a�os que siempre ha sido "uno de los chicos" ya que no tiene amigas mujeres desde el s�ptimo a�o y siempre se ha juntado con su hermano Chase y sus amigos West y Sawyer, tres chicos que las dem�s chicas de la escuela mueren por tener. Dylan es inmune a sus encantos porque ellos la consideran otro chico, viste como ellos y se comporta como ellos (gases y eructos incluidos). Pero todo cambia cuando Dylan vuelve tras pasar un verano lejos de ellos, con sus primas... y empieza a vestirse como una chica (su personalidad es la misma, pero sus hormonas son unas hijas de perra). Sawyer y West comienzan a cortejarla, para ellos ya no es una de los chicos y las cosas se vuelven locas ya que ella gusta de ambos y juega con ambos por miedo a lo que suceder� cuando tenga que elegir. Ser� su nuevo amigo gay, Matthew, quien le de consejos amorosos (y cause celos en los dem�s). Y es que hay mucho en riesgo y Dylan teme a la reacci�n de su hermano Chase, y en c�mo podr�a afectarse la amistad entre los 4.
Comete muchos errores... a veces me dieron ganas de entrar al libro y pegarle... y es que la tonta no terminaba de besarse con Sawyer que ya estaba en los brazos de West, y ment�a para no tener que hacer frente a la situaci�n. A medida que transcurre el libro, Dylan sufre las consecuencias por sus acciones y finalmente elige a uno de los dos... pero, �esa decisi�n ser� duradera? �podr�n mantener su amistad intacta hasta que termine el a�o?

Disfrut� mucho de esta historia, que est� bien narrada y engancha, y te hace sentirte parte de ese mundo, y de los problemas amorosos de Dylan, cuya personalidad me ha parecido bastante original aunque a veces haya sentido ganas de hacerla entrar en raz�n.

Es una historia ideal para adolescentes a quienes les guste mucho el romance, el drama y los tri�ngulos amorosos.

Quiero felicitar a la autora y desearle muchos �xitos m�s. Creo que tiene mucho futuro.
