Another gem from Dr Chaitow

Another gem from Dr Chaitow - if you're interested in learning techniques that will actually be therapeutic, instead of just palliative, learn what he's teaching. This is especially true for LMT students - the curriculum of most massage schools that satisfies requirements for licensing doesn't really delve into techniques that will remove pain. Rather it results in LMTs who can do "fluff and buff" - the client may feel good for an hour or two afterwards, but any underlying pain is still there. THIS WORKS.

About the Author
Haroon Ahmed is Emeritus Professor of microelectronics at Cambridge University and former Master of Corpus Christi College. He was a student at King's College and he has been a member of the Engineering Department and The Cavendish Laboratory. He is now Visiting Professor at the Computer Laboratory.

Philip Denbigh was a student at Gonville and Caius College. His career has been in engineering, mostly in academia as lecturer, professor and reader at the Universities of Birmingham, Cape Town and Sussex. He retired early and acquired a degree in fine art in 2005. His meticulous work in coloring the engravings of this collection has produced prints that are artistically pleasing while remaining in sympathy with the period.

A lovely book to have but the quality of the reproduction of the engravings leaves something to be desired, especially when opne compares them with the reproductions done by Heffer & Sons, the Cambridge booksellers, from Ackermann's Cambridge done some thirty years or more ago.

Cartea „Puterea ta interioara. Preia controlul asupra vietii tale” cuprinde �n sapte capitole diverse situatii de viata si ipostaze �n care ne regasim cu totii la un moment dat din viata noastra. Fie pentru ca nu ne cunoastem suficient de bine, pentru ca nu ne dam voie sa visam si sa „zburam”, pentru ca tinem cont mult prea mult de ce �si doresc altii si mult prea putin de ce ne dorim noi, sau fie pentru ca �nca nu stim cum sa ne accesam resurele si puterea interioara, putem face alegeri care sa nu fie �n acord cu autenticitatea noastra, cu dorintele noastre reale si cu misiunea noastra personala. Aceste alegeri ne pot �ndeparta de calea noastra si putem ajunge sa experimentam foarte frecvent sentimente negative precum tristete, anxietate, depresie, lipsa de sens, gol interior ori chiar boli fizice.

Scopul acestei carti nu este sa �ti ofere solutii magice �n sapte pasi ci sa te ajute sa �ti constientizezi si sa �ti accesezi puterea interioara, folosind-o cat mai �ntelept cu putinta; sa privesti problemele cu care te confrunti din mai multe unghiuri de vedere sau, pur si simplu, pentru un moment, dintr-o alta perspectiva pentru a-ti da voie sa observi cai alternative, mai simple, de solutionare.

�n urma experientei mele ca psihoterapeut si life-coach am observat care sunt situatiile problematice si blocajele cel mai des �ntalnite �n viata unui om si am hotarat sa tratez aceste situatii �n cele sapte capitole ale acestei carti:

Brilliant and not Madness

I'm starting a support group and I want all perspectives in my repertoire of ideas to help us all with the challenges presented by bipoloar disorder. This is an extraordinary and emotionally revealing series of stories of this illness. I've experienced much of this personally but never seen it written of so beautifully. I am grateful to all the contributors and highly recommend this book.

Filling in the gaps

This is a wonderful reader. I really recommend it to anyone, it provides so much insight into the bipolar world and illuminates on so many other things as well, such as, what does it mean to be labeled as crazy, when the world we live in is insane? highly thought-provoking containing very valuable information. Not enough literature on mental health topics like this is out there.

The third edition of Principles And Practice of Mechanical Ventilation is simply excellent. It can not miss in the library of the medical critical care practitioner. The book offers answers to most questions that the doctor is made in relation to mechanical ventilation. The version for kindle looks improved in comparison with the Second Edition, easy reading and navigation. Figures and tables with good resolution. A very comprehensive book, I recommend it!

Useful, but could be better

I have experience with a ZedBoard and ISE/Planahead for Zynq development. I picked up a MicroZed and this book and hoped it would help me make the transition from ISE to Vivado quickly. It is helping, but not quickly.

In general, it is a useful book (I am still working through it), but there are a few issues:
1) The book has no page numbers, but has a table of contents referencing page numbers. However, there are a lot of numbered figures, so the table of figures at the front of the book can be used to infer the page numbers.
2) It was written using Vivado 2013.2. I am using a later Vivado and its flow occasionally deviates from the book. I was able to wade through the differences, but it was slow going.
3) Some of the figures are critical but unreadable. For example, Figure 29 depicts a modification to the DDR address space in the FSBL loader script, but it is illegible. The supporting text doesn't say what the DDR address address/size values are, but refers to the figure. I went to the online blog from which this book was made, and the same illegible figure is used there. I was able to find the correct values by looking at the linker script of the application created in an earlier step (ps7_ddr_0_S_AXI_BASEADDR, 0x100000,0x3FF00000)
4) Steps to create the boot image were glossed over. It wasn't clear that "datafile" was the necessary partition type for both the FPGA bit file and the standalone C application.

I'm sure I will have a longer list of nitpicks like this, but I am still grateful for the book, especially the later sections that cover topics new to me.

The idea of surrounding a hard wired CPU core with fpga fabtic is not new. Both xilinx and altera have had product ifferings with linux support for years. Getti g a design off the ground was at best challenging. The need to have both fpga confug and Cpu software made getting that furst "hello workd". Up involved many late nights, missed deadlines and loss of hair. I know. I did it the hard way in several designs
The zynq SOC. took this embedded CPU and fpga fabric to a new level, including two ARM9 CPU. Zylinx also included all the usual periphals we expect on a SOC. Including. Macs, ddr controllers, iic and so on. Just to complicate things more they dumped the old ISE/EDK tool chain and replaced it with a tightly integrated all in one tool called Vivado. The Eclipse ased SDK remains pretty much unchanged. All that is to show the scale of the paradigm change in embedded SOC/FPGA. development. a huge amount to take on board for both experienced and new developers. Daunting, to put it mildly.

The uzed chronicles guide us gently and thoroughly through an apprenticeship in. all these new concepts with lots of examples and pithy explanations. They avoid all the garbage and witty remarks of so many "for dummies" books but never get confusing ot obscure.
Xilinx documentation tends to assume the reader has some telepathic ability or connection with the concepts. They are OK and entirely necessary but the uzed chronicles are a nicely written guide book that makes the perfect complement to the official docs.
Despite many years experience in the cpu/fpga. Design world i would say these books aved me a year on getting up to speed on Xilinx's new direction. In todays world of high pressure design cycles that year simply woukd have got any commercial project canned. As it is just a few weeks following these texts will bring you right up to speed

Highly recommended. Essential reading in fact.
