It's alright.

The book set in the picture looks like it'll be big, but it's the same dimensions as an average hardcover book.
Overall the book set is alright. The preparations are straight forward and there are little one to three sentence blurbs about the inspiration for the drink. Some of the drinks require you to make some extra syrup so be sure to read ahead for that. It would have been useful for more sourcing. There are a couple of sources but it's mainly for barware. It would have been really nice if there was some talk about why certain ingredients are chosen. Like there are a few different bitters called for, but they just appear to be made by different people (Obviously orange bitters vs some other bitters you can see why, but do I really need Uncle Rusty's Bitters and Dog of the City Bitters? I have no clue.) So maybe what would have been more useful is a close substitution chart. I understand with this that you want precisely this alcohol and this other one since they do have specific flavors and characteristics, but some approximation help would have been cool.
The amuse bouche section is just okay. The recipes are not really well laid out and go more for a stylistic print rather than "Okay, here are all of your ingredients here is what you do." Instead it looks like an old wall painting where you make something then need more ingredients. Which is odd because the cocktail recipes are well laid out.

Best way to remember NYC

I visited Daniel's restaurant in NY earlier this year and had a cocktail to die for. I was determined to learn how to make it. When scouring the internet I came across this recipe book and sure enough, it was in there. I have made it about 100 times now! I just recently purchased other ingredients to try other cocktails. Certainly some of them require exotic ingredients or things that take extra time to make (ice balls) but I've been pleased with it.
