About the Author
Professor Dougal Drysdale recently retired from the University of Edinburgh, where he maintains the position of Emeritus Professor of Fire Safety Engineering. He is a past president of the International Association for Fire Safety Science. His research interests include spontaneous combustion, fire dynamics and behaviour, and fire investigation.

Imperative for Fire Proffesionals

It is a very good review about principles of fire phenomena told from a critical perspective. You will find all you need in order to understand the most general concepts and how they were experimented and analyzed. However, sometimes you will feel that there are not enough examples of calculation. But it is very useful as a guide.

Broad overview of fire dynamics with a great deal of practical application

Drysdale's book is an excellent overview of fire dynamics for any fire protection engineer. While it is not truly exhaustive, you will be well-equipped to tackle a variety of fire dynamics problems based on the material presented. It also makes good supplemental material to the Fire Dynamics section in the 4th edition of the SFPE Handbook of Fire Protection Engineering.
